Bye Bye Booty

It has now been six weeks since my surgical escapades. My wound has healed fabulously. I went to the doctor for my check up today and was completely floored when he told me that I didn’t have to use my boot anymore, that instead I could just use a lace-up brace. This was a shock because I was originally told that I would have to wear the boot until I hit the three-month mark. But apparently I have a body that’s tough like Wolverine and it has repaired itself at superhuman speeds.

Oh bliss!
Oh ankle bliss!

Although it hurts to walk without my boot and my muscles are incredibly weak, which forces me to hobble much slower than I was traveling with the boot, it feels so good to be walking again that I can’t dislodge the perma-grin from my face. Yahoo!

  1. I recently had an MRI and it to showed a torn peroneal brevis tendon. My doctor wants to fix it with surgery but myself I am not too sure. How awful is the surgery and how long does it take in the Operating room?

  2. Hi Debra,
I’m sorry that you have a tear in your tendon. The surgery to repair the tendon actually isn’t too bad. It usually only takes 45 minutes to an hour in the operating room. It’s a pretty standard procedure. The aftermath though is much harder to deal with. I got my surgery done 7 weeks ago and I’m barely starting to walk again. It will be months before my foot is back to normal. But I guess on the flip side, if I had not got the surgery my tendon would have probably ruptured at some point. So I guess it was necessary. Best of luck to you and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
I’ll keep updating my blog on my progress.
